Blame it on the card
1:30 p.m. — 1500 Block of West Granada Boulevard
Grand Theft. The two suspects passed all points of checkout without paying and were stopped by a store employee. They said they thought their debit card paid for the merchandise, but their receipt showed $4 and the value of the merchandise in their carts was $662.33.
The merchandise was returned to the store and the suspects were trespassed from the property.
Homemade skate board?
10:20 p.m. — 100 Block of Standish Drive
Theft. The victim said he placed a sign in her lawn that said, “Please return the skateboard taken from our garage.”
One night, she noticed the sign was missing, and in its place was a two-by-three foot cart with wheels made with PVC pipes.
She said she wanted to press charges for theft of the sign.
Avoid road rage
9:00 a.m. — Clyde Morris Boulevard and Hand Avenue
Assault and Battery. A motorist said someone threw a cup of coffee at him while in traffic.
He said the incident started on Clyde Morris Boulevard and Nova Road where the suspect ran a red light, nearly hitting him. He said he followed the suspect to Hand Avenue and confronted him, and at that point the suspect threw a plastic mug with coffee at him.
The officer told the victim he would file a report with the state attorney, and the suspect should be prepared to explain why he followed the suspect. He said it caused the situation to escalate, and since there was no crash, it probably would have been better to “just go on about his day” and avoid the situation.
Bad address
4:39 p.m. — First Block of East Granada Boulevard
Narcotics. The victim received a suspicious package in her post office box. She had taken out the post office box when she moved from a residence. She said the house was foreclosed on, and someone may have recently bought it.
The package was mailed from Oregon and had the address of the foreclosed home. She noticed it had several wrappings and a “suspicious” container.
The Ormond Beach Fire Department inspected the package and opened it. It was found to have 493 grams of cannabis and 34 grams of cannabis oil in shrink-wrapped packaging. The narcotics task force was notified.
Poking around for Pokemon
5:55 p.m. — 1300 Block of West Granada Boulevard
Shoplifting. The employee said a male and a female entered the store who asked where the clearance section was and then walked to that section.
At the time, the employee was talking to a female who was inquiring about buying a Play Station for her daughter. He thinks she may have been a “distracter,” because she kept demanding his attention.
He became suspicious when the two suspects left after only a few minutes.
He discovered that 75 packs of Pokemon cards valued at a total of $299.25 were missing. He said other items may be missing, but he would need to take an inventory.
