Sorry to eat and run

3:31 a.m. — 100 Block of Williamson Boulevard

Failure to Pay. The restaurant owner told police that 15 young adults had dined, and all had individual checks.

Two from the party went to the cashier to pay their tab, and the remaining people walked out the door without paying. The amount not paid was $63.29.

The victim said they left in three vehicles. A partial tag number was researched, and it showed a vehicle that had been recently involved in a noise complaint in Daytona Beach.

Fraud. The suspect walked into the convenience store and paid for a bag of chips, scratch-off tickets, and $10 worth of gas with a $100 bill.

The victim tried to put the bill into the safe, but the safe scans for counterfeits and would not accept it. However, the victim was not sure it was counterfeit because the safe did not accept $100 bills from time to time.

The suspect took her $83 in change and left the store. The bill was found to be counterfeit and turned in as evidence.

Later, he received a call from another suspect who told him that before receiving the grant money, he would have to pay 10% for a total of $780. He refused and the call was disconnected.

Grab and go

9:36 p.m. — 400 Block of South Atlantic Avenue

Fraud. The suspect attempted to buy a pack of cigarettes with a $20 bill. A check with a counterfeit pen showed the bill was fake, and the suspect claimed he got it from a bank.

The suspect then snatched the bill and the cigarettes and ran out the door.

There was a delay in making the call to police, because store policy requires the employee to notify company security before calling police.

Unlucky day

11:35 a.m. — 100 Block of South Atlantic Avenue

Assault and Battery. A male wearing a hat with a tag, red T-shirt and shorts entered the store and became upset because he did not win with lottery tickets he had purchased. The victim asked him to stop cursing because a female was in the business.

The suspect said he had a gun and a permit but did not indicate he had a gun.

As the male exited the store, he threw a soft drink can at the victim, who had to duck.
