Pedestrian killed on North U.S. identified

The driver of the car was from Palm Coast.

The pedestrian killed on North U.S. 1 on Jan. 16 has been identified as Dale Churchill of New Hampshire. He was killed near the north end of the Tomoka River Bridge at 8:23 p.m., according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

A 2005 Jeep Wrangler, driven by Wilson Kowaleski, 30, of Palm Coast, was traveling north in the left, inside lane when Churchill entered the road and was struck by the vehicle, police said.

The incident remains under investigation.
