Holy Scrap and Princess Leia U Out are two peas in a pod, a match made in heaven, #couplegoals, and with three years of history under their belts, these ladies are well aware of how much they need each other — on and off the roller derby flat track.

With Feb. 14 being reserved for their significant others (though some cross that line), Feb. 13 is for celebrating derby wives, the women that support and compete with each other during their roller derby games. For better or for worse.

Princess Leia U Out, a.k.a., Alyssa Roscoe, described the term best: "It's your best friend, your go-to, your second brain, your other half."

"You know what they're going to do," said Carla Owens, otherwise known as Holy Scrap. "On and off the track."

"It's someone you can trust and rely on," said Roscoe, with her arm around Owens. "She was the maid of honor at my wedding."

"We never fight," smiled Owens. "All our aggression is out on the track."

All the local derby wives played together during the Sintral Florida Derby Demons' Valentine's Day Couples Scrimmage this past Saturday at Destination Daytona. The Couples team battled it out against the Singles team, and won 328 to 117.

Roscoe and Owens play for the Palm Coast Roller Derby Beach Brawlers, and host their practices at Skate and Shake Skating Center in Ormond Beach.
