The pickup truck that reportedly tore up and down a city street in front of schoolchildren turned out to be an innocuous incident, police have now reported.
Last week, a neighbor reported that schoolchildren were alarmed when a pickup truck came toward them a couple of times at a high rate of speed and then slowed down as it went by them.
They ran into a neighbor’s yard and told the resident about the incident.
The resident recently told police that she believes the children were truly scared, but she doesn’t think the truck driver was paying any attention to them.
A truck that matched the description was located in the area, Live Oak Avenue and South Ridgewood Avenue, by police. The truck owner admitted to driving the truck at the time and said he was revving the engine and speeding up and slowing down. He said he does that once a month to clean the carbon out. He denied that he stared at the students as he went by.
