Thanks, chump

6:09 p.m. — 900 Block of Northbrook Drive

Civil Complaint. The victim said he gave his friend $300 so he could get to Jacksonville. Upon leaving, the friend told the victim that he would not get the money back. He then took off. The victim said he gave the money without coercion.

Fruit picking

1:55 a.m. — 1500 Block of North U.S. 1

Information. The witness said a car stopped in front of a fruit business and a woman jumped out of the car and grabbed some fruit. The car then took off to the north.

Helpful dog

6:39 p.m. — 200 Block of Hidden Hills Drive

Suspicious Incident. A woman was home alone when she heard her back screen door slam shut. She peered out of the window and saw an unknown male standing in the yard next to a door. Her dog started barking and the male ran away.

There was heavy rain at the time, and no footprints in the enclosed screened area, so the officer noted that the suspect never made entry.

The victim requested extra patrol and said the same thing happened three months ago.

Timely encounter

6:28 a.m. — 1500 Block of North U.S. 1

Assist another agency. A car was reported stolen in Flagler County and was believed to be headed south on U.S. 1. As an officer was traveling north on the highway, he saw a vehicle that matched the description at a gas station, parked at the pumps.

As the officer pulled into the gas station, he saw the passenger exit the vehicle and enter the store. The tag matched the tag of the stolen vehicle.

The officer waited until the passenger returned to the car. Just as the passenger began to enter the vehicle, the officer rushed up and told the driver to stop the car and remove the keys.

The suspects were removed from the car to await Flagler County police who said they had charges against them.
