Diabetes Support Group

10 a.m. at the Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center medical office building, 305 Memorial Medical Parkway, Suite 100, Daytona Beach. This support group is open to anyone diagnosed with diabetes and their caregivers. It is led by a Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center diabetes educator and topics include nutrition, medications, new monitoring devices, research updates and the emotional aspects of diabetes. Meets on the second Thursday of the month (except July and August). Free and an RSVP is not required. Call 231-3178.

Halifax Genealogical Society

1:30 p.m. at the Ormond Beach Library Auditorium, 30 S. Beach St. Ann Osisek will present "Legends, Lies and Lineage: Family Fiction vs Genealogical Facts." Visitors welcome. Call 672-3806.

Chronic Pain Support Group of Ormond/Daytona Beach

1:30 p.m. in the Cafe at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Speaker will be Mike VanThielen, Ph.D, author of "Health 3 Life." Dr. VanThielen's topic will be “Stem Cell Therapy for Chronic Pain.” Call 262-4512.

FRIDAY, FEB. 12

Walking with the Manager

8 a.m. at The Casements, 25 Riverside Drive. Please meet at the entrance. The entire walk will be approximately 2 miles. Citizens are invited to join in the walk, ask questions, share comments and offer suggestions. Please put on your walking shoes and join us.

Open Gym

6 to 8 p.m. at the Ormond Beach Gymnastics Center, 432 N. Nova Road. For anyone between the ages of 8-21. There will only be light spotting. Coaches will be on the floor at all times. A waiver to participate must be signed by each person and anyone under 18 years of age must have the waiver signed by a parent. Cost is $5 per participant. Participants may register at the Leisure Services Registration Office, online or at the door. Call 676-3250.

“Elton John Tribute: Rocket Man”

7 p.m. at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center. Presented by Main Event Entertainment. Cost is $30 for reserved seats and $35 at the door. Call 676-3375.

SATURDAY, FEB. 13

Tomoka Remembers: Pine Needle Basketry and Valentine’s Kids Craft

10 a.m. to 3 p.m. outside the recreation hall building in Tomoka State Park. Volunteer Susan Barry will talk about pine needle basketry. Kids can make a Valentine’s Day craft from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Program included with park entrance fee.

10:15 to 11 a.m. at the Florida Health Care Plans Community Wellness & Education Center, 471 S. Nova Road. Every Tuesday. Free and open to the community.

Ask the Pharmacist: Medication Checks

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Ormond Beach YMCA, 500 Sterthaus Drive. Take this opportunity to bring in all of you current medications including over-the-counter products, herbal supplements and vitamins. Please do not bring in any needles or syringes, but it's OK to bring in vials or injectable pens like insulin. Call 425-5210.

Lung Cancer Support Group

2 p.m. at the Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center’s Cancer Institute’s chapel, 224 Memorial Medical Parkway, Daytona Beach. This support group provides a safe and open environment to share experiences and struggles. Meets on the third Tuesday of every month. Registration is not required. Call 231-4000.

Osteoporosis Education Program

Stephen Robinson Concert

7 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 38 S. Halifax Dr. Robinson's hour-long program will feature favorite pieces from the classical guitarist. He has performed as guest soloist with orchestras including the Cincinnati Symphony and Boston Pops Orchestras and is professor of music at Stetson University, where he founded and has directed the guitar program since 1983.
