Nemo Farmer is a well-known local veteran who served bravely during World War II and the Korean War. Farmer traveled the world over as a fire control technician aboard several different Navy vessels during his twenty years of service. A fire control technician works on a ship’s big guns. Upon retiring from the Navy, Farmer worked for 25 years as an electrical engineer. He and his wife Patsy moved to Palm Coast in 1989. They’ve now been married 72 years. You may have met them in their many community volunteer activities, most notably as friendly greeters at the hospital for many years. Both Farmers are longtime members of VFW Post 8696. Farmer has received many awards during his life. He’s very proud of the French Legion of Honour, awarded a few years ago for his part in liberating France during World War II. It is France’s highest award. Farmer recently turned 97.
