13-year-old passenger dies in Nova Road motorcycle crash

Police report the driver of the motorcycle, the victim's father, was driving north in a southbound lane.

A 13-year-old boy from Brooksville died in a motorcycle crash in the 600 block of North Nova Road on Saturday, Oct. 10.

Ormond Beach Police reported that around 3:29 p.m., a northbound Ormond Beach resident in a white passenger car began to make a left turn into the Tomoka Oakwood North Condominiums when he was struck by a black motorcycle, whose driver was on the wrong side of the road. The driver, Robert Penny of Brooksville, was going northbound in a southbound lane of North Nova Road. 

Penny, the victim's father, suffered serious injuries, according to a press release. He was taken to the hospital. His son died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.
