Improvements to the housing market remind one local realtor of an old friend, and gift orchids.

To Century 21 A.H. Stone & Associates agent Sharon Barbaro, the local housing market is blossoming, just like the orchids she was gifted from friend and fellow real estate agent LaVerne Martincic, just before the economic downturn.

“The housing market in Ormond Beach is definitely improving and poised to blossom,” Barbaro said. “The housing inventory is limited; interest rates are at an all-time low; prices are on the rise.”

Before the downturn, Martincic also taught Barbaro to market foreclosure properties, a skill which has served her well the past few years.

And even though Martincic has since died, Barbara says her memory lives on. Barbaro learned how to “coax beautiful blossoms” out of seeds thanks to Martincic, and she even still has her gift orchid from all those years ago

“News of the improved housing market is being celebrated by these orchids in full bloom,” Barbaro said. “I am sure LaVerne is smiling down on us.”
