Audrey Parente, longtime Ormond Beach resident and reporter for The News-Journal, will introduce her new book, “Once a Pulp Man: The Secret Life of Judson P. Philips as Hugh

Pentecost,” at this year's Pulp AdventureCon on Feb. 20 in Fort Lauderdale. The show plays host to exhibitors and fans of the pulp fiction era, which occurred in the 1900s before television.

Parente’s book is a biography of an author who penned hundreds of mystery and sports stories and includes interviews of two editors of the pulp fiction era who retired to Ormond Beach.

Parente has written two other books about pulp fiction writers, the late Hugh Cave and the late Theodore Roscoe, who retired to Ormond Beach. She now resides in South Florida.

Parente’s book release party will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Universal Palms Hotel.
