4:15 a.m. — 1500 block of North U.S. 1
Larceny. Police responded to a local gas station after a cashier notified a shoplifting incident. An unknown woman had stolen a basket with some miscellaneous food items and two pairs of sunglasses.
The responding officer later found the basket of items sitting at a nearby fruit stand, according to the incident report. The woman, however, was never found. Since all the items were recovered, the gas station manager decided not to press charges.
6 p.m. — 100 block of Sanchez Avenue
Trespassing. An Ormond Beach woman was wearing headphones as she worked on a remodeling project in her home's bathroom when she looked up and saw a man standing in the doorway.
The woman told police that the man told her he could help with her house and lawn, according to the police report, and the woman sold him to leave multiple times. She said he man stood there and said nothing. Eventually, the man left and went to her neighbor's house, where her neighbor gave him money. The man then left on a bicycle, according to the police report.
Police spoke to the neighbor, who said the man asked if they needed any work to be done around the house. Because they didn't, the neighbor said he gave the man money instead. Police eventually found the man, who said that he had entered the woman's home because he thought it was under construction and he was looking for work.
The woman told police she wished to press charges.
7:54 p.m. — 200 block of Arlington Way
Disturbance. An Ormond Beach woman called police to advise that her neighbors' family members had tried to fight her after an altercation regarding a prior noise complaint.
The woman told police that she was outside her home when her neighbor asked how she was doing, and she replied she would be doing better if she had a good night's sleep, according to the incident report. An argument ensued, consisting of screaming and swearing. Her neighbors were able to restrain their family members to keep the situation from escalating. There was no physical contact, both parties said.
Police spoke with one of the family members involved, who said that they had a party the night before and police showed up because of a noise complaint, which they complied with. She said that the argument started when the woman began speaking "harshly" at them, calling them "trash" and saying that they "did not belong there," the incident report states.
Police told both parties to contact law enforcement if another similar instance occurs.
