Seventeen-year-old Daphne Forester had her very first bald eagle experience on Feb. 10. And no, it wasn't at a zoo.

The junior at Spruce Creek High School discovered an American bald eagle after she got home from school. It was perched on top of the tallest tree in her backyard in the Ormond Lakes subdivision.

"Sometimes, we have a few deer and some turtles," said Forester, "But I have never seen a bald eagle before."

Forester said the eagle stayed in the tree for about two days.
