Future workforce training

Businessmen concerned about getting skilled employees in the future may consider attending a strategic workshop sponsored by the Daytona State College Board of Trustees, 7:30 a.m.-10 a.m., May 28, at Advanced Technology College, 1770 Technology Blvd., Daytona Beach.

The college is seeking input from those in manufacturing, construction, healthcare, hospitality, professional services and transportation to help determine what skills will be needed in the future.

HUM partners with Darden

Halifax Urban Ministries, a nonprofit corporation, announced recently it has been selected to receive a $3,000 grant as part of the Restaurant Community Grants program from the Darden Foundation, the charitable arm of Darden Restaurants Inc.

Halifax Urban Ministries offers homeless prevention and intervention services throughout Volusia County from four service centers and distributes food at 12 locations. Darden’s Volusia County Red Lobster, Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse and Bahama Breeze brands participated in the program.
