Free Haircut Day a success

Fifteen stylists from throughout Volusia and Flagler counties, along with staff and students from South Daytona’s International Academy, came together this month to give free haircuts to local homeless and low-income children.

“Not sure the total number of children we were able to reach, as these awesome stylists also gifted parents and younger sibling with much needed and appreciated haircuts,” organizer Daniela Behler, from Sheer Dimensions Salon 175, said.

Local company makes LED ‘turtle lights’

In response to recent, sea turtle-inspired beachside lighting ordinances, Argent LED, at 436 N. Seagrave, has worked with the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Sea Turtle Conservancy, to develop amber LED lights that are safe for nesting sea turtles.

The LED lights replace artificial lighting with amber wavelengths. The company has been in local operation since 2008.
