Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center will host an open house Thursday for its newly renovated rehab center; and, Signature HealthCare showcases its residents in a senior art show.

You're invited: Former CBS anchor to speak at hospital open house
An open house will be held 5 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at Florida Hospital Peninsula Rehabilitation, 264 S. Atlantic Ave., following the completion of a $3 million overhaul of the only inpatient rehab facility throughout Volusia and Flagler counties. The center specializes in treatment and rehabilitation of patients who have experienced stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injuries and more.
The project made all patient rooms private, upgraded the gym and redecorated. New amenities, such as flat-screen, Internet-powered TVs in every room, new flooring and new furnishings were also incorporated. The hospital added iPads to its treatment arsenal, as well, which will be used during speech therapy and electrical therapy for stroke patients.
Former "CBS This Morning" and "48 Hours" anchor Mark McEwen will also share his story of rehabilitation from a massive stroke at the event. Reservations are required for McEwen's presentation; 250 spots available.

Health care agency to showcase residents’ work
Signature HealthCare of Ormond Beach, at 103 N. Clyde Morris Blvd., will open its Reflect N Us Art Gallery 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25, with a public reception and artist meet and greet.
Ten senior residents have created art for the show, according to Justine Bailey, director of business development.
“It’s the first time we have done this and I think it will become an annual event,” Bailey said.
Signature HealthCare is a 60-bed nursing facility.
