Employees of Launch Federal Credit Union, 240 Williamson Blvd., celebrated the one-year anniversary of the Ormond Beach branch May 17. The credit union serves all of Volusia and Brevard counites. Massage studio opens

 

Zenison Massage Therapy opened in December and the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce recently celebrated with a ribbon cutting at their business located at 120 E. Granada Blvd., Suite 202. Services, by appointment only, include various modalities of massage including couples’ massage. Alisa Holland, who owns the business along with husband Craig Matthews, also offers skin care and facials.

They have spent most of their careers in Atlantic City casino spas and resorts and have worked at a resort in Daytona Beach Shores. Holland has 27 years of experience and Matthews, 22. Visit www.zenisonmassagetherapy.com.

 

Summer STEM classes offered

 

A+ Tutoring has announced Science Camps as part of its offerings this summer. The Tutoring center, which is celebrating its 25th year, is open all summer for students to accelerate their studies, a press release stated.

Instructor Louise Chapman, Volusia County Schools teacher, offers the following: For first and second graders on June 25 and June 26: Tools in Science, Animals, Plants, Weather, Soil and Changes in Matter. For third through sixth graders July 15-18: Plants, Rocks and Minerals, Wind/Weather and Animals.

Hotel buys property

 

NAI Realvest | Charles Wayne Commercial recently negotiated the $975,000 sale of 3.43 acres at 175 Interchange Blvd., just west of Interstate 95. A 124-room Extended Stay America Hotel will be built on the property.

The company represented the seller, Southwest I-95 LLC, a development team that includes Charles Wayne Properties and Holub Development. The Charlotte-based buyer, ESH H Portfolio LLC, had the property under contract to purchase and closed when all permitting was granted by the city.

Hospital names marketing director

 

Russell Mariott, of Ormond Beach, has been selected to serve as the executive director of regional marketing for the five AdventHealth hospitals in Flagler and Volusia counties. 

 

Suicide initiative launched

 

Halifax Health has launched an initiative, Connect 4 Hope, that aims to prevent suicides in Volusia and Flagler counties through providing mental wellness services and community programs with the assistance of community partners SMA Healthcare; Randy Dye, owner of Daytona Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram and Fiat; Mission 22 and Volusia County Schools.

Last November, Halifax Health hosted its first awareness event, the Ride to Stop Suicide Poker Run.

State Farm teams with school

 

Local State Farm agent Alison Boscovich and AICE Academy at Seabreeze High School are teaming up for the State Farm Quotes Good program.

Throughout June, for each person who contacts Boscovich’s office, requests an auto or fire quote and mentions AICE Academy, the agent will donate up to $10 back per quote to the organization. The office is located at 325 S Yonge St. Suite C. For information, call 386-672-5111.

The Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) emphasizes the value of broad and balanced study for academically advanced students.

“This program is a great way for all of us to support our community,” Boscovich said.

In other State Farm news, the company is reducing its Home Insurance rates by an average of 14.4% in Florida, according to a press release. The total state-wide expected savings impact will be approximately $95.9 million, the release stated. The new rates are effective May 15 for new business and July 1 for renewals

 “Stable non-catastrophe loss trends, improving expenses and losses, along with State Farm Florida Financial strength were important factors, among many, that supported our decision to make this rate change,” said Dan Krause, State Farm senior vice-president.
