Also: Rash of vehicle burglaries reported

At approximately 3:39 a.m. on Oct. 29, the Ormond Beach Fire Department was dispatched to a residential structure fire at 11 Carmel Terrace. There was one occupant and there were no injuries.

Units from Ormond Beach and Volusia County responded. The State Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.

Thieves target Tomoka Oaks

The Ormond Beach Police Department is investigating a series of vehicle burglaries that occurred in the early hours of Oct. 27 in the Tomoka Oaks area, according to spokesman Keith Walker.

There were 15 reported vehicle burglaries. Some of the vehicles had smashed windows and others had been left unlocked. Stolen items include a purse, wallet and GPS system. There are no known suspects at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Ormond Beach police at 677-0731. Anyone who wishes to remain anonymous can call Crimestoppers at 277-TIPS or toll-free at 1-888-277-TIPS. Those who provide information to Crimestoppers can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
