New Tai Chi teacher, parking lot closure and new gymnastics classes.

Casements' Tai Chi gets new teacher, seeks student

Now under the new leadership of instructor Andy Townsend, The Casements' Tai Chi classes have currently opened public signups.

Held at 25 Riverside Drive, courses are 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 9 a.m. Thursdays. Classes are $40 per month and have a four-student minimum.

Central Park parking lot closures

As part of a scheduled Capital Improvement Project, the Central Park parking lots located off of Fleming Avenue and Hammock Lane will be closed to the general public, from Oct. 8 through Dec. 7, so the lots can be paved.

According to the city, the work will improve the diving surface, established marked spaces and eliminate erosion associated with the current lot, which is made up of crushed shell and sand.

Gymnastics Center adds new classes

The Ormond Beach Gymnastics Center has added a Mommy & Me class and a Teen Developmental class.

The Mommy & Me class, which is open to boys and girls between 18-months and 2-years old, teaches the children basic gymnastic skills and will cost city residents $51 with proof of residency.

The Teen Developmental class for girls ages 10 and up and is designed to introduce the novice female gymnast to basic gymnastic skills and terminology.
