Cagan on the run: Mafia writer to set off on first book tour

Richard Cagan, Ormond Beach author of a new, nonfiction, internationally published crime book, will set off on his first book tour next week.

Ormond Beach author Richard Stanley Cagan will embark on his first book tour 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Books-A-Million, 5220 State Road 100, in Palm Coast.

Cagan will read excerpts from his latest book, “Mafia Cop: The Two Families of Michael Palermo— Saints Only Live in Heaven,” which is about a real-life undercover New York City detective. He will also sign copies.

"I was born into a life where the "Mafia" ... (was)  all around me," Cagan writes, in his "The story Behind the Book. "I grew up living in a sea of organized crime and I didn't know it."

Cagan is also the author of "The Story Behind the Joey Calco Bath Avenue Crew Story," based on the diaries and letters of mafia enforcer Joey Calco, as well as interviews with his friends, families and associates.
