Friday, Aug. 30

Toddler Time

When: 9:30-11 a.m.

Where: St. James Episcopal Church, 38 S. Halifax Drive

Details: This weekly program, held in the Parish Life Center's nursery, is for parents and children ages 1-4. Activities will include circle time, structured play, themed crafts and a snack. Contact Jillian Chance at 904-589-0365.

St. James Fish Fry

When: 4:30-7:30 p.m.

Where: St. James Episcopal Church, 38 S. Halifax Drive

Details: St. James Episcopal Church invites you to its sixth-annual Fish Fry. Enjoy fried fish, hush puppies, fries, dessert and soda. There will games for the kids. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for children. Call 677-0872

Sunday, Aug. 1

Irish music open jam session

When: 4-6 p.m.

Where: Fletcher's Irish Pub, 393 W. Granada Blvd.

Details: Come in, enjoy authentic Irish music over a cold pint and some Irish eats. Bring your instrument. Held every first Sunday of the month.

Monday, Sept. 2

Labor Day Fun Run/Walk

When: 7-10 a.m.

Where: One Daytona, 240 Daytona Blvd.

Details: Spouses Backing the Blue and The Running Elements invite the community to participate in this event and social at the Running Elements store. Arrive between 7:15-7:45 a.m. for check-in. Fun Run/Walk begins at 8 a.m. Kids Dash times available. All funds collected will go toward helping Daytona Beach Police officer Nick Gurucharri, who is battling cancer. Coffee with Commissioner Kent

When: 5-6 p.m. 

Where: 130 Magnolia Drive

Details: Enjoy a cup of coffee and conversation with Zone 2 City Commissioner Troy Kent at his home. 

Tuesday, Sept. 3

Watercolor workshop

When: 1-4 p.m.

Where: Ocean Art Gallery, 197 E. Granada Blvd.

Details: Ever wanted to learn how to paint with watercolor? Learn how to at Ocean Art Gallery by using a wet-on-dry paper layering technique. Class will be taught by artist Bibi Gromling, and has a maximum of six students. All supplies provided. Don't need art experience. Costs $75.

Wednesday, Sept. 4

Dance lessons

When: 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Where: Ormond Senior Center, 351 Andrews St.

Details: On Wednesdays, the Council on Aging offers dance lessons provided by "Dance With Me" instructors Tom and Jo Sanders. Costs $2. Participants are welcome to stay afterward for a dance gala and social, from 2-4 p.m. featuring live big band music by The Blue Notes. Call 672-4159.

Thursday, Sept. 5

Peninsula Women's Club of Daytona Beach

When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: Call for info

Details: Calling all bridge, canasta and samba players. Join The Peninsula Women's Club for lunch, preceded by appetizers and wine, and followed by dessert and coffee. The club then plays bridge, canasta or samba. Costs $14. Call 451-1305 by Monday, Sept. 2 for reservations.
