Thursday, May 2

National Day of Prayer choral concert

When: 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Where: First United Methodist Church, 336 S. Halifax Drive

Details: Sponsored by Chapter GQ of the PEO Sisterhood, this concert features four area choirs: Basilica of St. Paul Catholic Parish Choir, Christ Presbyterian - Lighthouse Church Sanctuary Choir, First United Methodist Church Chancel Choir and Westminster By-The-Sea Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir.  Free admission. Offerings are appreciated to benefit PEO scholarships, awards and grants.

Friday, May 3

Ormond Beach recycling

When: 10-11 a.m.

Where: Environmental Discovery Center, 601 Division Ave.

Details: Public Works Operation Manager Kevin Gray will present a program about the city's recent recycling changes. Residents will be able to ask questions. Space is limited. Call 615-7081 to reserve a spot.

CMT presents 'Pinocchio' & 'Bye, Bye Birdie'

When: 7-9 p.m. on May 3-4; 1-3 p.m. on May 5

Where: Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, 399 N. U.S. 1

Details: See the spring performances of the Children's Musical Theatre Workshop, Inc. Tickets cost $15. Call 676-3375.

Saturday, May 4

Art in the Park

When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 4; and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 5

Where: Rockefeller Gardens, 26 Riverside Drive

Details: Attend the 47th-annual Art in the Park, featuring arts, crafts, entertainment and food vendors. Live music will play in the gazebo on the north lawn. A community mural will be available for public participation, to be displayed in a city building. Call 676-3241.

Sunday, May 5

Pancake breakfast

When: 8 a.m. to noon

Where: Social Hall at St. Brendan Catholic Church, 1000 Ocean Shore Blvd.

Details: The Father Eamonn Gill Council 13018 Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, scrambled eggs, a sausage link, orange juice and coffee. Costs $5. Children under 12 eat free. Open to the public.

Wednesday, May 8

Citizens for Ormond Beach speaker series

When: 5:30-7 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Library auditorium, 30 S. Beach St.

Details: City Planning Director Steven Spraker will talk about development, zoning districts, identifying floodplain and wetland areas, the comprehensive plan and other planning topics. Learn where to look for information on the city's website on development. 

Thursday, May 9

Student art show opening reception

When: 5-7 p.m.

Where: Ormond Memorial Art Museum, 78 E. Granada Blvd.

Details: See the works of almost 150 young artists at the Temple Beth-El show have created in the exhibition, "The Sun Always Shines on Temple Beth-El." This is the first time the students' creations will be displayed outside of school. Exhibit runs until May 24. Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the week, and noon to 4 p.m. on the weekend. Voluntary donation of $2 per person is requested.
