Ormond Beach Oktoberfest

When: 1-7 p.m.

Where: Anderson-Price Memorial Building, 42 N. Beach St.

Details: Join the Historical Society and Ormond Brewing Company for a day of live music and brews. "The Bavarians" will perform traditional Oktoberfest music from 3-7 p.m. Other musical acts TBA. Beer from Hoffbrau, Ormond Brewing Company and traditional German food will be available for purchase. Admission costs $10. Call 677-7005 or visit ormondhistory.org

Sunday, Sept. 22

30th-annual ice cream social and silent auction

When: 1-4 p.m.

Where: St. James Episcopal Church, 38 S. Halifax Drive

Details: All proceeds will benefit Family Renew and its endeavor to help families lift themselves out of homelessness. Costs $5 per person, free to children 10 and younger, and includes unlimited ice cream and homemade cake, entertainment, children's activities and silent and live auction. Monday, Sept. 23

Civil Discourse

When: 5:30-6:45 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Library, 30 S. Beach St.

Details: Civil Discourse is continuing on the topic "Smart Growth, What to heck is it and how does it affect me?" Come and invite anyone you know who can bring something to the topic, especially about development and sustainability. A panel on the subject is expected to take place at the Oct. 28 meeting, which will include Katrina Locke, county director of sustainability and natural resources development.

Once Upon a Time Storytime Series

When: 10-11 a.m.

Where: The Casements north lawn, 25 Riverside Drive

Dance lessons

When: 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Where: Ormond Senior Center, 351 Andrews St.

Details: On Wednesdays, the Council on Aging offers dance lessons provided by "Dance With Me" instructors Tom and Jo Sanders. Costs $2. Participants are welcome to stay afterward for a dance gala and social, from 2 to 4 p.m. featuring live big band music by The Blue Notes. Call 672-4159.

Women's health expo

When: 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Where: AdventHealth Daytona Beach, 301 Memorial Medical Parkway

Details: AdventHealth is kicking off breast cancer awareness with this free event in the hospital's lobby and garden area, featuring health education panels, screenings, as well as beauty, fashion and fitness demonstrations, goodies, food, music and more. Attendees are encouraged to donate a new bra for the local women’s center at Family Renew Community. ERAU Honor Series

Details: MIT Senior Research Scientist Stephanie Seneff will present a talk on RoundUp, titled Glyphosate: The Rattlesnake in the Corn. Free and open to the public.
