Halifax Genealogical Society

Details: Listen to Miles Meyer present, "Mapping Your Roots," to learn how to use maps and mapping tools to identify ancestry. Visitors welcome. Call 672-3806.

Blues band concert

When: 7-9 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, 399 N. U.S. 1

Details: See the Warner Christian Academy's Velvet Blues Band perform its annual concert. Free admission. Call 676-3375.

Friday, May 10

Walking with the manager

When: 8 a.m.

Where: Environmental Discovery Center, 601 Division Ave.

Details: Join City Manager Joyce Shanahan and Leisure Services Director Robert Carolin for a walk, with the opportunity to ask questions, offer suggestions and share comments. Walk will span approximately 2 miles. 

Little Learners

When: 10-11 a.m.

Where: Environmental Discovery Center, 601 Division Ave.

Details: Children ages 3-5 are invited to participate in a Little Learners Butterfly Program, where they will learn about the biology and life cycle of butterflies. There will be hands-on activities. Free program. Space is limited. Call 615-7081.

Snakes

Ormond Beach Beer Festival 

When: 2-8 p.m.

Where: Rockefeller Gardens, 26 Riverside Drive

Details: Attend the inaugural Ormond Beach Beer Festival, sponsored by S.R. Perrott Inc. Enjoy an unlimited tasting of over 30 local and national craft breweries with tasting ticket purchase, food vendors, live music, and a kid's game area. Free admission. Tasting tickets cost $30; $35 day of. All proceeds will support the Rotary Club of Ormond Beach.

Mother's Day crafts

When: 2-3 p.m.

Where: Environmental Discovery Center, 601 Division Ave.

Monday, May 13

Harp Strings and Fairy Tales for Kids

When: 5-6 p.m.

Where: Ormond Memorial Art Museum, 78 E. Granada Blvd.

Details: Gather in the museum galleries for a night of live music and story-telling catered to children and their parents. Children can play the harp and other instruments. Recommended for ages 8 and under. Costs $7 per child. Register at ormondmuseum.org or by calling 676-3347.

Osteoporosis program
