'Protect oceans, protect life'

When: 5:30 p.m.

Where: Ocean Art Gallery, 197 E. Granada Blvd.

Saturday, Oct. 23

Church yard sale

When: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: Tomoka United Methodist Church, 1000 Old Tomoka Road

Details: Peruse goods at Tomoka United Methodist Church's yard sale. The church is located just west of Nova Road, off Granada Blvd.

'Howl-o-ween' themed pet adoption event

When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: Subaru of Daytona, 670 N. Tomoka Farms Road

Details: Halifax Humane Society and Subaru of Daytona are hosting an adoption event, made possible via a grant from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. There will be games, food, giveaways and a Halloween pet costume contest. HHS aims to adopt out at least 30 animals. 

Low-cost pet shot clinic

When: 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Where: A Pampered Pooch Groomer 295 S. Yonge St.

Details: Get your pet vaccinated at a lower cost. Rabies shots will cost $5 for 1-year vaccinations. Other shots offered include dog distemper/parvo combo, dog flu, cat distemper combo, feline leukemia and more. Heartworm prevention and flea control products will be available for purchase. All vaccinations are administered with a licensed veterinarian. Halloween Highway

When: 5:30-9 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Sports Complex, 700 Hull Road

Details: The city of Ormond Beach's drive-thru trunk or treat is back for its second year. Free event. Participants must enter the event from Pineland Trail and move along to Harmony Avenue and into the Ormond Beach Sports Complex "Candy Zone." Call 676-3241 for more information.

'Get Ready! The Motown Experience'

When: 7:30 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, 399 N. U.S. 1

Details: Presented by Allengang Entertainment, this show pays tribute to some Motown legends — including The Temptations, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight and the Pips — with a twist. Four singers and dancers will inject youth, energy and wit into this show, with a few surprises along the way. Tickets reserved in advance cost $30; $35 at the door.
