Right Whales in Florida: Extinction or Recovery?

OBMS Panther Prowl 5K

Details: The third-annual Ormond Beach Middle School Panther Prowl 5K is the school's primary fundraiser. The race will start and end at the school, and the it will be professionally-timed and scored. Registration costs $30; $20 for students, staff and local cross country and track teams. Two-day safe boating class

When: 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday Jan. 29 and Feb. 5

Where: Halifax River Yacht Club, 331 S. Beach St.

Details: Presented by America's Boating Club, Daytona Beach Sail and Power Squadron, this two-day course is the one you need to obtain a state boating safety education ID and apply for a possible insurance discount. The course materials cost $39.40, payable by cash, check or credit card.. Couples can share materials for $59.10. Seating is limited. The Hidden History of Florida

Details: The Ormond Beach Historical Society's next speaker series highlights Florida's past, much of it that is still hidden. Featuring author, historian and University of Central Florida lecturer James. C. Clark, learn about some strange stories in our state's past. Free event.
