Friday, Aug. 2

Walking with the manager 

When: 8 a.m.

Where: Einstein Bros. Bagels, 110 S. Nova Road

Details: Join City Manager Joyce Shanahan for a 2-mile walk on the Forest Hill Trails Connector. Meet in the parking lot of Einstein Bros. Bagels. Entire walk is along paved surfaces. Assistant City Engineer Shawn Finley will be the guest walker.

'Incredibles 2'

When: 8:30 p.m.

Where: Rockefeller Gardens, 26 Riverside Drive

Details: Catch this month's Movie on the Halifax, presented by the city's Leisure Services Department. Movie is rated PG. Free admission. Refreshments available for purchase. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Call 676-3216.

Saturday, Aug. 3

Family Fun: Stories & Hijinks of Ormond Beach

When: 10-11 a.m.

Where: Anderson-Price Memorial Building, 42 N. Beach St.

Details: Presented by the Ormond Beach Historical Society, this interactive program for ages 7-12 features activities and stories from the early pioneer days of Ormond. Free and open to the public. Complimentary refreshments for the children will be served. Call 677-7005 or visit ormondhistory.org to reserve a spot.

Monday, Aug. 5

Coffee with Commissioner Kent

When: 4:30-5:30 p.m.

Where: 130 Magnolia Drive

Details: Join City Commissioner Troy Kent at his home for a cup of coffee and conversation. 

Tuesday, Aug. 6

36th-annual National Night Out

When: 5-8 p.m.

Where: Nova Community Center, 440 N. Nova Road

Details: Presented by the Ormond Beach Police Department, this year's event theme is super heroes, and will feature a costume contest, photo booth, rock wall, martial art demo, dance demo, food and more. Call 676-3553 or 676-3526 for questions.

Wednesday, Aug. 7

Dance lessons

When: 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Where: Ormond Senior Center, 351 Andrews St.

Details: On Wednesdays, the Council on Aging offers dance lessons provided by "Dance With Me" instructors Tom and Jo Sanders. Costs $2. Participants are welcome to stay afterward for a dance gala and social, from 2-4 p.m. featuring live big band music by The Blue Notes. Call 672-4159.

Thursday, Aug. 8

'Who says I'm too old to go back to work?'

When: 10:30 a.m. to noon

Where: Ormond Beach YMCA, 500 Sterthaus Drive

Details: Join this course, taught by Jamie Newcomb, to learn how to earn extra money with part-time or full-time work.
