Thursday, April 25

Art of Healing

When: 3-4:30 p.m.

Where: AdventHealth's Cancer Care Center, 224 Memorial Medical Parkway

Details: A free visual art program open by anyone in need of healing, including patients, caregivers and survivors. Paint a decorate a wood light switch cover. No art experience needed. All supplies provided. Class is led by Kristin Heron. Space is limited. Register at ormondartmuseum.org or call 676-3347.

Yappy Hour with Kaleb Lee

When: 5-8 p.m.

Where: Ormond Outpost, 1385 N. U.S. 1

Details: Come out to a free Yappy Hour fundraiser featuring Kaleb Lee from The Voice, who will be performing live on stage. Ormond Outpost is raising money for the Southeast Volusia Humane Society and Paws of War. There will be free wine and craft beer tastings from S.R. Perrott and several local breweries. Unity in the Community 

When: 5-8 p.m.

Where: South Ormond Neighborhood Center, 176 Division Ave.

Details: Join the Ormond Beach Police Department for an afternoon of community upbuilding. Come out and discuss issues and events with your officers. Hotdogs and drinks will be provided.

Saturday, April 27

Florida Humanities Speaker series

When: 9:30 a.m.

Where: Anderson-Price Memorial Building, 42 N. Beach St.

Details: Michael J. Tougias, a New York Times bestselling author, will be offering a dramatic presenting based on his co-authored book, "So Close to Home." Free admission. 

National Drug Take Back Day

When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Police Department, 170 W. Granada Blvd.

Details: Drop off unwanted prescriptions and over-the-counter medications and supplements at the Police Department lobby. Liquids, needles or sharps cannot be accepted; only pills or patches. Free and anonymous. No questions asked.

Go Drastic on Plastic

When: 1:30-4:30 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Library, 30 S. Beach St.

Details: Presented by Dream Green Volusia, guest speakers and presenters from Daytona State College, Bethune-Cookman University, the Volusia Flagler Sierra Club, Gamble Rogers State Park and others will address the single-use plastic problem affecting wildlife and health. A short movie will be shown. Gluten-free biodegradable straw testing provided. Email [email protected]

National Day of Prayer choral concert

When: 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Where: First United Methodist Church, 336 S. Halifax Drive

Details: Sponsored by Chapter GQ of the PEO Sisterhood, this concert features four area choirs: Basilica of St. Paul Catholic Parish Choir, Christ Presbyterian - Lighthouse Church Sanctuary Choir, First United Methodist Church Chancel Choir and Westminster By-The-Sea Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir.  Free admission. Offerings are appreciated to benefit PEO scholarships, awards and grants.
