Halifax Genealogical Society

When: 1:30 p.m.

Where: Anderson-Price Memorial Building, 42 N. Beach St.

Where: Ormond Beach Senior Center, 351 Andrews St.

Details: Learn more about managing heart conditions and diabetes with this free educational presentation by United Healthcare, hosted by the Council of Aging in Volusia County. Call 672-4146.

Saturday, Nov. 16

Riverfest Seafood Festival

When: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17

Where: Rockefeller Gardens, 26 Riverside Drive

Details: The annual festival is back with fresh fish, family fun and fall festival delights. Featuring over two dozen food vendors, live music, boats, paddleboards, kids' activities and a draft beer garden, this free event drew more than 12,000 visitors last year. Kids Fish fishing clinic will also be back, and 300 fishing poles will be given away to children after they participate. Monday, Nov. 18

Free 'mystery' quilt competition

When: 6:30 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Presbyterian Church, 105 Amsden Road

Details: The Racing Fingers Quilt Guild is sponsoring this free competition, which is open to the public. The theme is "mystery," and could include authors, characters, title of stories and more. Any size or technique is accepted. Prizes will be awarded for "Best Representation of Mystery," "Best Use of Color/Noir" and "Most Creative." Tuesday, Nov. 19

Once Upon a Time Storytime Series

When: 10-11 a.m.

Where: The Casements,  25 Riverside Drive

Details: Please join in for a free, hour-long program for children 4 and under, hosted on the north lawn. Books, snacks, and crafts included. RSVP by calling 676-3216.

Democratic club meeting

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Red Lobster Restaurant,  2625 W. International Speedway Blvd.

Details: The Democratic Club of Northeast Volusia County is holding its monthly meeting. A social hour will be open for all attendees to eat dinner and socialize with other members before the meeting, starting at 6 p.m.. All Democrats in the area are welcome to attend.

Bird Watching 101

When: 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Where: Environmental Discovery Center, 601 Division Ave.

Details: Come meet Florida's birds and travel to nearby places to see them with the Halifax River Audubon. This new lecture and field trip series for adults will teach the tools and skills to help you birdwatch in the wild. This is the second of three units to this series. The final session will be on Dec. 10. There will be a field trip on the Saturday following each class. Costs $10 per session. Price includes Saturday field trip. Dance lessons

When: 12:30-1:30 p.m.

Where: Ormond Senior Center, 351 Andrews St.

Details: On Wednesdays, the Council on Aging offers dance lessons provided by "Dance With Me" instructors Tom and Jo Sanders. Costs $2. Participants are welcome to stay afterward for a dance gala and social, from 2 to 4 p.m. featuring live big band music by The Blue Notes. Call 672-4159.
