'2 Guys with Horns'

When: 7-8:30 p.m.

Where: The Casements, 25 Riverside Drive

Details: Begin the Swing into Spring concert series with a night of music by 2 Guys with Horns. Presented by the city's Department of Leisure Services. Free concert. Light refreshments available for sale. Call 676-3216.

Friday, April 5

Guild Spring Exhibit and Reception

When: 6-7:30 p.m.

Where: The Casements, 25 Riverside Drive

Details: The Ormond Beach Art Guild will hold its spring 2019 exhibit, where local artists plan to showcase their mixed media artwork. There will be hors d'oeuvres, wine and punch at the opening reception. Marian Devore, pianist and Art Guild member will provide light music. Free and open to the public. Call 34105964 or 846-5517.

Movies on the Halifax

When: 8 p.m.

Where: Rockefeller Gardens, 26 Riverside Drive

Details: Watch "Peter Rabbit" on the lawns in front of The Casements. Event is presented by the city's Leisure Services Department and The Casements Guild. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Holly Hill Arts Festival

When: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 6, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 7

Where: Holly Hill City Hall, 1065 Ridgewood Ave.

Details: Presented by the city of Holly Hill and Helping Hands Thru Arts, the first-annual Holly Hill Arts Festival features over 70 fine artists and creative crafters, music and food trucks. Festival is free and open to the public. Part of the proceeds will go to the Holly Hill School and the UBIC Academy. Visit HollyHillArtsFestival.com or call 405-2140.

Selfless Love silent auction

When: 5-8 p.m. 

Where: Frame of Mind, 23 W. Granada Blvd.

Details: Frame of Mind is hosting a charity event for the Selfless Love Foundation, which is an organization dedicated to finding perfect match homes for foster children. FoM invited the children to create art to be auctioned off in a fundraiser taking place during the Ormond Art Walk. 

Orlando Gay Chorus

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, 399 N. U.S. 1

Details: This 80-voice choir will perform its Sondheim by the Sea concert, featuring the music of Stephen Sondheim and George and Ira Gershwin, in benefit of the Volusia County Chapter of PFLAG. Tickets cost $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Call 676-3375.

Ninth-annual National Poetry Month Festival

When: 1-4 p.m.

Where: The Casements, 25 Riverside Drive

Details: This free festival features over 20 of the area's prize-winning poets, and is presented by the Creative Happiness Institute, Ormond Beach Arts District and Tomoka Poets. Open to the public. Sixth-annual Garden Party luncheon 

When: 11 a.m.

Where: Cici Hyatt Brown Museum, 352 S Nova Road

Details: Welcome spring at the sixth-annual garden party luncheon sponsored by the Museum of Arts and Sciences Guild. This year's theme is herbs. The even will feature a herb-based lunch, a presentation by the Seaside Herb Society and a secret garden filled with herbs, orchids and more. Tickets cost $40. Space is limited. Osteoporosis education program

When: 4 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Library, 30 S. Beach St.

Details: The National Osteoporosis Foundation Education and Support Group of Ormond Beach will be presenting,“The Challenge of Understanding Food Choices." Call Barr and Associates Physical Therapy at 673-3535.

Civil Discourse

When: 5:30 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Library room 4, 30 S. Beach St.

Details: Join a local group of citizens who wish to engage in dialogue with those of all political viewpoints in the respectful exchange of ideas, information, values, positions and belief, with the possibility of creative problem solving. There will be a moderator.

Halifax Genealogical Society
