Movies on the Halifax

When: 6:30 p.m.

Where: Rockefeller Gardens, 26 Riverside Drive

Details: This month's movie is Ralph Breaks the Internet, rated PG. Bring a chair or blanket. Free event sponsored by Riverbend Community Church.

Saturday, March 7

ABC safe boating class

When: 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Where: Halifax River Yacht Club, 346 S. Beach St., Daytona Beach

Details: Presented by America's Boating Club, this two-day course held over consecutive Saturdays (the second one will be held on March 14) is the course needed to obtain a state operator's ID and apply for a possible insurance discount. Ormond Beach Historic Loop Bus Tour

When: 9:30 a.m.

Where: The Casements, 25 Riverside Drive

Details: See much of the history and scenery of Ormond Beach via the Ormond Beach Historical Society’s bus tour. Beginning at The Casements, the tour includes the Loop, the Three Chimneys Sugar Mill Ruins and a visit to see the Fairchild Oak. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the MacDonald House, located at 38 E. Granada Blvd. Tickets cost $22 for adults, $20 for Historical Society members and $7 for ages 5-12. Tour takes about two hours. Call 677-7005.

'It was a very good year' Frank Sinatra tribute 

When: 2:30-4:30 p.m.

Where: Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, 399 N. U.S. 1

Details: While you'll never see Frank Sinatra perform in concert again, some people say Tony Sands in the next best thing. See him perform hits like "That's Life, "Come Fly With Me" and "New York, New York." Tickets cost $25. Call 676-3375.

Monday, March 9

Free market bag remake quilting lecture

When: 6:30 p.m.

Where: Aberdeen Club House, 50 Allwood Green Blvd.

Details: Racing Fingers Quilt Guild is sponsoring a free presentation by self-proclaimed "purseaholic" Joy Gallick who will show you how to turn recycle bags into "designer bags." Open to the public. Contact [email protected]

Tuesday, March 10

Italian cooking class

When: 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Where: The Casements, 25 Riverside Drive

Details: Join Mary Maggio, a featured teaching chef at The Casements for over 20 years, as you learn how to make tortellini with Alfredo sauce, Sunday Sauce, spinach ravioli with marinara and spaghetti carbonara. Complete menus and recipes are provided, along with dinner and wine. Take-home containers also provided. Class costs $85. Reservations required. Call 679-6144
