Hurricane Maria TV special

When: 7 p.m.

Where: Watch on Spectrum Channels 13, 1013 and 1213

Details: "Town Hall: Hurricane Maria – Healing a Humanitarian Crisis" is a live TV special hosted by Spectrum News 13 with Anchor Ybeth Bruzual and Spectrum Bay News 9 Anchor Veronica Cintron, who will be reporting live from San Juan, Puerto Rico. The one-hour special will explore major projects on the island, how both Florida and the Federal Government responded, and personal stories from survivors.

Saturday, Sept. 29

Classic car and BMX bike show fundraiser

When: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Where: J&P Cycles Destination Daytona Superstore, 253 Destination Daytona Lane

Details: Support the Seabreeze High School band's trip to London in 2019 and Legacy Housing, a non-profit organization that works to prevent youth homelessness and sex trafficking, by attending this event. It will feature the Holy Smokes Classic Car Show, an RV Exhibit and a performance by the Seabreeze High School's percussion and color guard. 

The Magic of Monoprints

When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: Ormond Memorial Art Museum, 78 E. Granada Blvd.

Details: Join the museum for a printmaking workshop with exhibiting artist Don Martin. The workshop will introduce beginning students to the printmaking process, called monoprinting, and will move them through a series of processes that will result in several prints over the course of the class. No experience necessary. All supplies are provided. Bring a snack or lunch. Open to participants 16 years and older. Costs $100 for members and $111 for non-members.

Lights Out painting raffle event

When: 6-8 p.m.

Where: Thays Art Gallery & Studio, 154 W. Granada Blvd.

Details: Participate in a raffle to win an original turtle painting by local artist Thays Franca. Proceeds from the raffle sales will benefit the Volusia/Flagler Turtle Patrol. Hors d'oeuvres, wine and beer will be served. Event open to those 21 and up. Costs $30 for a signed and numbered print of the original, plus one raffle ticket. Costs $50 for one print and two raffle tickets. Call 871-4991.

Thursday, Oct. 4

BraTini

When: 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Where: The Shores Resort and Spa, 2637 S. Atlantic Ave.

Details: Come see inventive and ingenious bra designs modeled by local celebrities to raise money for breast cancer through a fun and festive live auction. All proceeds will go to support local cancer patients, survivors and their families through the Sold 4 the Cause, Inc. organization. Tickets cost $85. Coffee and Conversation

When: 11 a.m to noon

Where: Ormond Memorial Art Museum, 78 E. Granada Blvd.

Details: Join in for an informative talk by Diane Spoden on "The Magical World of Bees," where she will discuss the importance of bees, how colonies work, the products of the hive and how we can help bees. Spoden is a member of the Crescent Beach Ladies Beekeeping Collective. This is a free event, but attendees are asked to register in advance at ormondartmuseum.org or by calling 676-3347.
