Charges filed against suspected bank robber

Charges were filed against a man the Ormond Beach Police Department believe robbed the Bank of America Aug. 2, on Nova Road.

The Ormond Beach Police Department filed robbery and grand theft charges Tuesday, Sept. 18, against a Port Charlotte man in connection with a bank robbery in Ormond Beach.

Marcus D. Lloyd, 35, was apprehended Aug. 21 while attempting to rob a Bank of America in Boynton Beach. He is believed to be the serial bank robber responsible for robberies in Lakeland, New Port Richey, Apollo Beach and Belleview, in addition to Ormond Beach and Boynton Beach.

Several witnesses identified Lloyd’s picture in a lineup as the man who entered the Ormond Beach Bank of America on Aug. 2, at 699 S. Nova Rd.

Witnesses to the Ormond Beach robbery say he jumped the counter, grabbed a cash drawer from the teller line and emptied it into a bag he was carrying before fleeing on foot.

Authorities across the state believe Lloyd is responsible for each of the robberies because he wore similar attire, had a similar physical build and method of operation. The OBPD said they expect additional charges from other jurisdictions to be filed against Lloyd.

Boynton Beach authorities also took Kaylee Sanchez into custody. They believe she was driving the vehicle for Lloyd.

Police said Lloyd didn’t use a weapon during the Aug. 2 robbery.
