Citizens can get rid of unwanted medications by depositing them in the prescription drug drop vault recently acquired by the Ormond Beach Police Department through the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators, according to public information officer Keith Walker.
Citizens may anonymously deposit prescription medication in the vault, which is located in the police department lobby. No needles or bio-hazards are allowed.
The hours of operation for the vault are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
‘I enjoy the legal challenges’
City Attorney Randy Hayes, who has worked in the city legal office for 21 years, with the last 16 years as city attorney, got high marks in a performance evaluation by the City Commission. He received an average score of 4.5, with 4 meaning “exceeding expectations” and 5 meaning “outstanding.”
The city attorney serves as legal counsel to the city commission, city manager and all city departments, advisory boards and committees. He is responsible for handling a variety of liability claims and litigation matters on behalf of the city.
“I enjoy the legal challenges that are presented,” Hayes said in a written statement. “I appreciate the positive performance evaluations and look forward to improving the delivery of legal services during the upcoming year.”
