The city will increase its funding to Project ROMP by $23,500 to keep its promising of matching the funds needed to build the park.

The Ormond Beach City Commission unanimously approved raising its funding match to Project ROMP, which aims to renovate the Magic Forest Rainbow Park, on Nova Road, an additional $23,500, bringing its total share of the project to $63,500, or half of the estimated project cost.
Commissioner Rick Boehm told the commission Sept. 4 that the plan's original projected cost of $80,000 had increased to about $127,000, and he encouraged board members to hold up their promise of matching the funds raised by ROMP volunteers.
“We are now continuing in our role of wishing to work with the private sector, when the private sector wishes to work with us,” Boehm said, during the Oct. 2 commission meeting, adding that he thought it was “a wonderful example of a public-private partnership.”
The only condition of the city’s additional funding, Boehm said, is that the group continue to raise money and volunteers continue to do the work.
Because the project is estimated to be completed in the 2012-13 fiscal year, the additional funding will need to be re-appropriated through a forthcoming budget amendment.
