The 90-day Mayor’s Health & Fitness Challenge is now open for registration.

BY THE OBSERVER STAFF

With preliminary events started last month, the Mayor’s Health & Fitness Challenge will run from Jan. 6 to April 6 next year, and registration is open now.

Exercise events, led by local yoga, Zumba and tai chi trainers, will held from January through April. Also as part of the challenge, local restaurants will offer healthy menu items and free recipes. And prizes will be awarded to participants who get the most fit.

All participants must work or reside in Ormond Beach, pay a $25 entry fee (which includes a free t-shirt) and fill out a registration form, at www.ormondbeach.org, or by visiting City Hall, at 22 S. Beach St.

Registration forms can also be turned in to the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Other challenge partners include Brown & Brown Insurance, Florida Health Care Plans, Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, Ormond Beach Mainstreet and Voluisa Flagler Family YMCA.

“Before” health screenings will be held in January.
