City's 21st-annual Picnic on the Plaza, an Earth Day celebration

Ormond Beach's 21st-annual Picnic on the Plaza, held at City Hall, attracted school kids, turtle-lovers, face-painting clowns and a giant red animal mascot.

Music from Five O’ Clock Charley buzzed in the background, as vendors set up their tents and tables in the City Hall courtyard, for Ormond Beach’s 21st-annual Picnic on the Plaza.

The Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida, Halifax Humane Society, the Volusia County Turtle Patrol and the Garden Club of Ormond Beach were just a few of the organizations on hand to celebrate the 43rd Earth Day and, soon, the courtyard was packed with students and pets and face-painting clowns.

The Ormond Beach Garden Club gave away flowers. And Ormond Beach Elementary School’s Lori Strasser led her first-grade class around the grounds, as they licked snowcones and pet dogs the Halifax Humane Society brought along to soak up the sun.
