Champagne gala kicks off tree fest

The Guild of the Museum of Arts and Sciences will kick off its ninth-annual Festival of Trees 6-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, with its Sparkling Champagne Gala, featuring holiday décor for sale and food from local restaurants.

Tabletop Christmas trees donated and decorated by guild members will be up throughout Root Hall, at the museum, 352 S. Nova Road. Larger trees are donated by local businesses and will be up for silent auction.

The festival ends Nov. 30. Ormond restaurants in attendance will be Pepper’s Mexican Cantina, Blau Mediterranean Grill, Fusion 43 at Rose Villa, La Fiesta, Lulu’s Oceanside Grill and more.

The reception is $45 per person, with reservations requested. The festival is open with admission to the museum. Call 236-9810.

Riverfest is coming: Nov. 16, 17

Ormond Beach’s free, fifth-annual Riverfest Seafood Festival will take over Rockefeller Gardens Park 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, with music, plenty to eat and more than 5,000 visitors expected.

Also taking place 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, the fest will feature a dozen food vendors offering seafood in every form — raw oysters to shrimp pad Thai. There will also be a pig roast and a hamburger/hot dog wagon.

Black Crow Media will sponsor the event’s newest attraction: a cooking stage, where demonstrations will take place from headliner Heather McPherson, cookbook author and the Orlando Sentinel’s food editor.

Local musicians will play Saturday, and A1A — The Official and Original Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band will perform Sunday. There will also be fishing and paddling lessons, a kids zone and a charity rubber duck race.
