Confirmed: Body of Rose Bruce uncovered in Ormond pond

The body of Rose Bruce, missing since Monday, Sept. 24, was found by the Volusia County Sheriff's Office in an Ormond Beach pond, late Thursday afternoon.

A few hours after expanding its search for 79-year-old missing person Rose Bruce Thursday, Sept. 27, law enforcement workers from the Volusia County Sheriff's Office located a vehicle confirmed to belong to Bruce submerged in a pond on the corner of Hand Avenue and Williamson Boulevard. The car contained an unidentified body. This morning, that body was confirmed to be Bruce's, as well.

The Volusia County Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be accidental drowning.

The Volusia County Dive Team extracted the 1997 Honda Accord from the water at about 6 p.m. They confirmed the driver's identification this morning. Bruce went missing Monday, Sept. 24.

She was last seen leaving work at Wal-Mart 10 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24,
