An truck gets struck off-roading; a man steals an FPL meter; and late-night vandalism at the Nova Community Park.

Towed you so
12:23 a.m. — 200 Block of Yonge Street. Information. An Ormond Beach Police Officer responded to the location and found an unoccupied pickup truck in some mud behind a business.
The officer said it appeared as if the driver had been “off roading” in some wet grass. The truck’s owner was identified by the vehicle tags and contacted by police. The vehicle’s owner told police his son was supposed to be in possession of the car and that he would contact him. The citizen reporting the suspicious vehicle told police there have been situations in the past where people have driven trucks through the mud behind the business, and the owner only presses charges if there’s damage done. The police weren’t able to contact the owner of the business.
When the son arrived on scene, he told police he was driving the truck when it got stuck and agreed to call a tow truck.

We need more power!
5:42 p.m. — First Block of Pine Trail. Theft. A new tenant moved into the home and called Florida Power and Light to turn the power on. The tenant was told there was an outstanding bill of $500 at the home and the power hadn’t been turned on there in months.
While the home’s owner was cleaning it after a previous tenant was jailed, he discovered that the FPL meter belonging to the home had been removed and was hidden in the garage.
The suspect’s daughter, who had moved her father’s belongings out of the home, told the landlord the meter attached to the home had been stolen from a previous house because her father couldn’t pay for electricity. Police alerted FPL of the situation.

I'd like to give jail a try
12:57 a.m. — 400 Block of Nova Road. Vandalism. An Ormond Beach police officer observed a car parked by the racquetball courts at Nova Community Park. The officer approached the vehicle and made contact with three individuals inside the car.
The officer notified the individuals that the park closes at 11 p.m. and they told him they were just hanging out. After noticing three garbage cans in the area had been knocked over, and that garbage had been spilled all over the ground, the officer asked if he could search the vehicle. The owner gave the officer permission and he found a bottle of dark spiced rum at the defendant’s feet. The officer then asked who knocked over the cans, and she said the defendant had done it, and that she tried to stop him.
She also told police the defendant knocked over a mailbox and threw it behind a shed by the tennis courts. The other occupant of the car was separately interviewed by the officer and confirmed the story. The defendant told police he needed to be taken to jail because he wanted to see what it was like. The defendant was taken into custody for criminal mischief of property.
