A fishy $35,00 check; Halloween hullabaloo among neighbors; and a full-scale sausage assault.

"Cash this check before I'm arrested for murder, please"
4:57 p.m. -- First Block of Beach Street. Suspicious Incident. A man entered a bank with a $35,000 check and requested that a teller cash it, stating that it was a paycheck. The man showed the teller a Florida license and handed her the check, adding that the company that wrote it had an account with the bank. Due to the large amount of the check, a personal banker took the man to her desk and explained some payment options to him. The check was dated for the next day, so the banker told the man he couldn't cash it right away, and since it was for such a large amount, it would take three days to clear. According to the police report, the man, with a straight face, told the personal banker, “I cannot wait that long because I killed the CEO of the company and they will find the body by then.” The personal banker said the man then got up and left the bank without incident. The personal banker and teller couldn’t remember the name of the company on the check. The police requested the bank’s surveillance video and the teller’s computer history.

Silly neighbors, tricks are for kids
8:05 a.m. -- First Block of Hamlet Circle. Civil Complaint. The officer responded to the location in regards to a civil dispute between neighbors, which he was told had been going on for more than a year. The officer was told one of the neighbors had obtained a temporary injunction on the other, which was dismissed in court. The neighbor who called the police said the two neighbors had been going “tic for tac” with each other ever since the injunction. He told police he made a fake gravestone for Halloween, with his neighbor's name on it, and keeps it in the front yard to prove a point. In return, the other neighbor put a skeleton with fake blood and a sign with a fake dead bunny saying "Tricks are for kids," which was supposed to represent the other neighbor, hanging from a tree. The responding officer told both parties to take down the Halloween decorations and have no further contact with each other. Both neighbors agreed.

Sausage assault on a aisle five
5:40 p.m. -- 600 Block of Atlantic Avenue. Simple or Aggravated Assault. The suspect entered a gas station wearing a red and white striped shirt, blue jeans and carrying a black backpack. He then walked to the beer cooler farthest from the counter. A witness told police the suspect opened the door to the cooler and stood there for approximately five minutes. The witness said the gas station clerk told the suspect to close the door until he decided what he wanted.The clerk told police this is when the suspect started cursing at him and he asked the suspect to leave. According to a witness, the suspect walked up to the clerk and got face to face with him, before a female customer entered the store and tried to diffuse the situation. The witness then stepped in, as well, he told police, and tried to escort the suspect out of the store. But the suspect threw an open can of Vienna sausages at the clerk, and missed. The suspect then walked out of the store and was followed by the clerk. According to witness statements, the suspect grabbed the clerk, cursed at him and then, as people tried to pull him away, reached into a bag and said, “I’m going to end your life tonight,” before fleeing the area on foot.
