Invader spooked by alarm?

6:34 a.m. — First Block of Spring Meadows Drive. Burglary. The victim said she was sleeping in her bedroom when she heard a big bang at her door. Her house alarm immediately went off and she got up to look at the front door.

She said the door was wide open and it looked like someone had kicked it in. She went back to her bedroom and locked the door and her alarm company called the police.

The officers cleared the house to make sure no one had made entry. They canvassed the neighborhood with negative results.

There was a shoe print on the right side of the front door handle, and the door and frame were broken. There was a wet spot on the driveway, possibly from the air conditioning unit of a vehicle that had sat there recently. There are no suspects and damage was estimated at $500.

Up in smoke

10:22 p.m. — West Granada Boulevard and Interstate 95. Narcotics. The officer conducted a traffic stop on a car for failing to maintain the inside lane. It had swerved into the outside lane, nearly causing an accident with the police car.

After the officer initiated the traffic stop, the car stopped in the middle of the roadway. It then pulled up on the curb and rolled forward until it was halfway on the road and half on the curb.

When the officer approached the car, he smelled burnt marijuana emitting from the window. He instructed the suspect to exit the vehicle and informed him he was being detained. After being read his Miranda rights, the defendant said he had marijuana in his shoe. The officer tested it with a field kit and it tested positive for cannabis.

The suspect was arrested for possession of cannabis and released with a notice to appear because he did not have any “failures to appear” on this record.

All keyed up

9:17 a.m. — 800 Block of South Atlantic Avenue. Vandalism. The victim said that the day before, while working at a restaurant, she believes one of her employees keyed her vehicle. She did not notice the damage until she arrived home.

She said she is a manager and has been having issues with a few disgruntled employees. Asked who she thought may have done it, she said she did not want to accuse anyone, because she did not know. She said she only wanted to document the incident.

The officer observed a long scratch along both doors on the driver’s side of the vehicle. The scratch was deep enough to see the metal.

The victim provided a written statement.
