BreakThru Nutrition, 130 N. Nova Road, recently celebrated their one-year anniversary of helping the community get healthier with blended shakes, energy drinks, etc., and the results are evident on their “Break Thru Wall.”

Customers record their accomplishments on the wall in the shop to record health milestones such as weight loss.

“The wall gives people recognition for their accomplishments,” said Lucas Telfer, who owns the business along with his wife Joanne. “Their stories are incredible.”

They also offer smoothies, boosters, specialty drinks and iced coffee, providing a healthy lunch alternative.

“A heavy lunch can often leave you feeling tired and sluggish in the afternoon,” Telfer said. “It affects your productivity and attitude.”

He said they help people “break thru” in their path to health, saying the biggest aspect is the mindset and being ready for change.

The couple moved down from Wisconsin, where they owned several similar businesses. Joanne Telfer, now a mother of four, got interested in nutrition first, seeking to get in shape after pregnancy. Her husband decided to also seek a healthier lifestyle, and they ended up starting their own business.

“We saw it as a business we could do together,” he said. “It changed her life and then my life.”
