Crews work to contain 140-acre fire

Fire crews from Volusia and Flagler counties responded to the 140-acre brush fire, of State Road 40.

A brush fire started west of Ormond Beach, Feb. 19, is burning approximately 140 acres.

Fire crews from Volusia County, Ormond Beach, Flagler County, Rima Ridge and Florida Forest Service were called around 1 p.m. to the location, on State Road 40 and Rodeo Road, after the fire started.

As of Tuesday morning, according Volusia Fire Services spokesman John Pasqualle, the fire was about 80% contained. He added the cause of the fire is unknown, and crews are currently investigating.

Pasqualle said fire crews would be back at the location Tuesday morning to continue work.
