The Daytona Beach Symphony Guild recently presented $31,000 to the Daytona Beach Symphony Society to aid in the nonprofit organization's efforts to continue offering musical and artistic programs in the community.

The gift was presented at the end-of-year Guild meeting. The Guild meets from October to May, and dues are $50. Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month at St. James Episcopal Church, located at 38 S. Halifax Drive.

The Symphony Society was created in 1952, according to its website, and the Guild followed in 1955 to help raise awareness of the Society through concert previews, an annual gala and fundraisers.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in need of funds

With more than 3,500 children being served through chapters in Volusia and Flagler County, including Ormond Beach, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is seeking funding for the upcoming year.

The library mails a free book each month to the participating children, which are between the ages of 0-5 years old. The Volusia and Flagler County chapter was started in 2012, according to a press release, and is a division of the national Dolly Parton's Imagination Library that was started in 1995.

A "Do Good with Burritos" evening will be held on July 22 at the Chipotle located at 2400 W. International Speedway Blvd. as part of the organization's community fundraisers. Chipotle will donate 33% of profits for purchases made between 4-8 p.m. when customers mention Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to a cashier.

For more information, call 1-888-227-0010 or mail donations to the Early Learning Coalition of Flagler and Volusia, Attn: DPIL, 135 Executive Circle, suite 100, Daytona Beach FL 32114.
