The Daytona Regional Chamber's Leadership Daytona Alumni Council presented a $500 donation to Westside Elementary School in Daytona Beach. The award was presented on the alumni council's behalf by Melinda Dawson, of Silversphere, who recently received the chamber's Marvin Samuels Leadership Award.
The award recognizes a past participant of the chamber's Leadership Daytona program for their outstanding volunteer efforts in the community. Dawson has been involved with the Museum of Arts and Sciences, Florida Hospital Memorial Foundation, Embassy of Hope and several other agencies.
The donation was made thanks to an endowment fund of the alumni council that is supported in part by the family of the late Marvin Samuels, a Daytona Beach area attorney who was well-known for his community involvement.
Need a dock replaced?
Floating docks are now available to replace local docks damaged in recent hurricanes. Candock North Florida was opened in September at 1074 N. U.S 1 by Jeff Jahr, of New Smyrna Beach,

Two restaurants open in Daytona
Landshark Bar & Grill and Cocina 214, separately-owned, beachside restaurants, have opened at 451 S. Atlantic Ave. in Daytona Beach. Landshark is inspired by the “beach joints” that once dotted the Atlantic coast, according to a press release. Cocina 214 is a contemporary Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurant.
Private tag office opens
Auto Tag Management Group, a private provider of tag services in Florida, recently opened a location at 175 S. Nova Road, Suite 5C, in Ormond Beach. The office provides customers with a quick option for tag and title help, among other services. Appointments can be made online or by phone.
“The county has enjoyed a long partnership with Auto Tag Management Group and this service option has proved to be a valuable addition to the county’s normal office operations by offering extended weekday hours and Saturday hours,” said Business Services Director Rhonda Orr.

Largest commercial real estate firm
NAI Realvest Charles Wayne Commercial was listed as Largest Area Commercial Real Estate Firm in Volusia-Flagler in the Volusia-Flagler Business Report Dec. 31 edition. The rating was based on the number of licensed commercial agents. The runner up was The Keyes Company in New Smyrna Beach.

United Way aids storm victims
United Way of Volusia-Flagler Counties distributed more than $215,000 in aid to area nonprofit agencies and community members since Hurricane Irma made landfall in September.
Funded projects include flood recovery at Avenue’s 12, rent and mortgage assistance, childcare assistance through the Volusia Flagler Family YMCA and housing repair at Family Renew Community in Holly Hill, according to a press release.
