Daytona College is adding a nursing and birthing simulation lab to accompany its new nursing program this summer.

Starting July 11, the nationally accredited private college located in Ormond Beach will offer the program for an associate of science degree.

"We are seeing an increased demand for quality nurses in the state of Florida and we couldn’t be happier to offer this program in our local market," President of Daytona College Nancy Bradley said in a press release. "This new program gives the college an opportunity to help more students realize their dream of becoming a nurse and help to fill open positions in the region.”

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of employed nurses will grow from 2.74 million in 2010 to 3.45 million in 2020 — at 26%, the top job growth in the United States.

The college has scheduled a Nursing Information Session from 6 to 7 p.m. June 1. To learn more about the program, call 267-0565 or visit DaytonaCollege.edu.
