Have you seen more trucks around town?

The 2021 Daytona Truck Meet began today, Friday, June 11, and will end on Sunday, June 13. According to the Daytona Beach Police, the meet, which is billed as "the largest truck show in the world," is expected to draw over 5,000 custom trucks and over 35,000 people to the Daytona Beach area this weekend.

DBPD states in a press release that it expects the greatest concentration of traffic to be around the Daytona International Speedway and One Daytona, especially for all show car activities. All events at the Speedway will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., except for Sunday, when events will conclude at 3 p.m.

Residents should also anticipate traffic congestion along A1A once events as the Speedway wrap up. Event participants are asked to use only major thoroughfares and avoid residential neighborhoods for shortcuts or gathering points.
