2:20 p.m. — 1600 block of West Granada Boulevard, Ormond Beach
Disorderly intoxication. Police received a call regarding a disorderly person, and upon their arrival at a local gas station, spotted a 28-year-old Ormond Beach man yelling profanities and chasing people in the parking lot.
The man, according to his arrest report, was seen carrying an open container of Natty Daddy beer. The man screamed profanities at police officers, and asked why they were talking to him, saying "he was stronger" than them and that his whole family was in the U.S. Marines. He accused an officer of hurling a racial slur his way, which the reporting officer noted was not true.
Marijuana was also found on the man's person. He was taken to jail.
3:07 p.m. — First block of South Beach Street, Ormond Beach
Vandalism. Police were flagged down by an anonymous person who reported someone was hammering a wooden frame in a parking spot of a local park.
The reporting officer met with a 78-year-old Ormond Beach man, who said he had ran over the wooden block with his truck the day before and gotten a flat tire as a result. He said he wanted to prevent the same thing from happening to others, and that there were large nails poking out of where the wooden block was. He pointed out where the nails were and how they had now been hammered into the ground.
The man told the officer he had removed the block with a hammer as a "good citizen," according to the incident report. The officer informed the man that this was done on city property and that he could be liable for damages.
The officer showed a city employee the damages and informed him of what had occurred; the employee said the city wouldn't pursue charges and that they would clean up the damages.
1:57 p.m. — 100 block of North U.S. 1, Ormond Beach
Larceny. Police arrived at a local gas station after receiving a call regarding the theft of $3,700 worth of diesel.
According to an incident report, the gas station manager showed the reporting officer video surveillance footage of two dates in April that revealed a gold pickup truck and a blue pickup truck parked at two pumps. Both drivers attached an unknown device to their respective pumps that opened the valves, allowing them to steal the diesel.
In doing so, the suspects damaged the wiring in the pumps. The manager told police this will cost the gas station between $1,500 to $3,000. The store wished to pursue charges.
