Team scamming

6 p.m. — First block of Misty Falls Drive

Fraud. An 86-year-old woman was scammed out of $4,500 after a man by the name of "Kevin Smith" gained access to her computer using a remote server access program and told her to click on a link in order for him to deposit $500 into her account.

The elderly woman received a call from "Kevin" earlier that morning, and followed his instructions to a T. Police report the suspect used Teamviewer 13 to gain access into her computer. "Kevin" told the woman over the phone that he accidentally had deposited $5,000 into her account and that she needed to repay him the extra $4,500.

Seeing that she indeed had an extra $5,000 in her bank account, the woman went along with his requests, first attempting to pay him back in Google Play cards (CVS would not sell them to her and told her she was being scammed) and then successfully transferring the money in "Kevin's" account the old-fashioned way.

"Kevin" was never heard from again.

Blaming the menstrual cycle

11:22 p.m. — 600 block of South Nova Road

Drugs. Police arrested a 26-year-old woman who refused to get out of her vehicle for a K-9 search, instead reaching for her bag beside her and telling officers she needed to change her tampon.

The officers on scene told her she could do so after they were finished with their search, but she did not listen. As police opened her door to remove her, she pulled two pill bottles out of her bag and swallowed some of one of them. The woman was reported to have yellow and blue powder around her mouth, which corresponded with the color of the pills.

Both blue and yellow pills were identified as Alprazolam. In the trunk, police also found cannabis. Before being arrested, she was transferred to the hospital.
